2023 Lost Slough Vineyard Cortese, Clarksburg
Sara and I aren’t shy about our love of Italian wine. We began our respective careers selling it and never stopped pursuing it as a source of inspiration. Enter: The Lost Slough Vineyard. The McCormack family has owned this property for four generations. A seawater channel called Lost Slough encloses the vineyard and keeps out the seawater, which explains the sandy soils scattered with shell fragments. Our 2nd vintage of Cortese is sunshine in a bottle. Vinified in 100% stainless steel, this dry, minerally white would be a perfect aperitif but the Thai basil, Amalfi lemon, quartz notes also make us think: something more exotic like green chicken curry.
