2019 Kiser Vineyard Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley Magnum

Our third year at this iconic site located in what we call "the deep end of the deep end." Kiser and it's neighbor to the North at Wendling are the at the western boundary line of the Anderson Valley AVA. Travel any further down Highway 128 and you're bushwhacking prehistoric redwoods. Kiser lies just 11-miles from a cold turbulent stretch of the Pacific Ocean. This zone is reliably cool and foggy during the summer necessitating longer hang times and significantly reducing yields. The wet years are just brutal out there, but during the droughty years as we have seen of late, the old adage about finding exceptional wines from "cooler sites in warmer years" holds true. We feel we have made improvements in the wine each year here and as much as we all like the 2018, the 2019 may be an even better wine. The clusters were visual clones of one another in their small, compact morphology. The juice rendered from these little grenades was concentrated, powerful, and yet somehow still elegant. Kiser!
